We were using inCable for the past two years without any complaint but for the last couple of months it was really painful to watch TV in the real sense. The reception was poor and the voice cracked so much that the audio was hardly audible. It reached to its extreme slowly bit by bit so for so many days we were just hoping that it would improve on its own. The birth of my daughter made TV watching a rare event so nobody bothered to focus on getting it repaired. But as the things started settling and i began to watch TV more frequently though randomly, the desire to watch flawless reception on the television returned, the main motivation being IPL matches!
I called up the incable helpdesk and they tried solving my problem but it didn’t work!!! So we started searching for an alternate cable network. My hubby works in a tata group company and Tatasky was the obvious choice. Way back when we shifted to Mumbai and wanted a cable connection, we had inquired about Tatasky but at that time there were some technical shortfalls due to which it could not be installed. It has been over ten days now and i am very pleased at the reception and quality of service offered by Tatasky. First and foremost, everything is online, you can have your own account on the tatasky website www.tatasky.com through which you can manage the transactions. This makes life so much easier for tech savvy people like us. I dread paying bills to a stinking cablewallah who might press your doorbell at any point of time. Secondly, the installation was hassle free. The digi-com as they call it arrived through courier and two people came to install it one day after. Installation took 15-20 mins and the guy explained the operational aspect to me as i was not very keen on reading the user manual on my own due to paucity of time. There is a 24 hour help channel in which a young kid and her aunt explain in detail how tatasky works. I liked the way the channels are organized and divided into various categories. Another interesting feature is showcase. Through showcase, you can order movies online for an additional cost of Rs. 75 each. There are 3-4 movies which are showcased and you have the option to choose one of them. The movie you choose will be available to you till midnight and will be telecast on different channels at pre-defined intervals, making it easier to catch up in case you missed a portion. With every new connection, you get a showcase free, and i took the pleasure of watching my free showcase yesterday, the movie being Dhram about which i plan to talk in my next post. Keep reading!!!

Hello everyone!
We have been blessed with a sweet angel daughter on 29th Feb 2008. I am very happy and the feeling can’t be expressed in words! Last one month has been a roller coater learning the nitty gritties of motherhood and coming to grip with the exhaustion that comes along with the world’s most beautiful responsibility. Now that things are just beginning to settle down a bit but not really…still more sleepless nights, more dirty nappies but more happiness with it all! Thank you God!

It was rather sad to witness sporadic violence after MNS chief Raj Thackery’s comments about the north Indians migrating to Mumbai and making things difficult for the maharashtrians! The north indians were beaten on the roads, vehicles manhandled and shops were closed in order to disrupt the common man’s life. Isn’t it a shame when a political leader wants to attract publicity by resorting to such tactics…
I have always looked at Mumbai being a cosmopolitan place and in fact when i came here almost two and a half years ago this is what attracted my attention and at a result i ranked it above other metropolitan cities. Mumbai has space for everyone and people are respectful of each other’s feelings. Generally people are helpful and cheerful here.

Its Diwali time again, a time of the year which i look forward to the most! It is when we dress up in our traditional best, light candles and diyas around the house, pray to Gods and enjoy the fun and the festivities. This is the time when its time i invite Goddess Laxmi into my adobe so that she can bless all of us. This year we are celebrating with even more fervour for the obvious reason.
My best wishes to all those who visit my blog!

Mumbai traffic is driving me crazy these days. When I came to Bombay, and decided to take up a job in an elearning company in Andheri, people usually mumbaites used to tell me that you will get used to it…but till now that has not happened. Destiny is playing cruel games with me. So if I get used to waiting patiently at a traffic signal for 150 seconds, then soon after I have to learn to positively spend my time in a traffic jam for an hour. Or there is some flyover coming up which leads to bumper to bumper traffic. I take the western express highway so going from Lower Parel to Andheri should take me 35-40 mins though that rarely happens. It takes me typically an hour.

A petty thief, a teacher and a lawyer die and go to heaven.
When they get there they are stopped by St. Peter, who then says, “Sorry, heaven’s crowding up, so you need to answer a question correctly, or else you can’t get in.”
He looks at the teacher, and asks her: “What was the name of the famous ocean-liner that sank after hitting an iceberg?” “Oh, that’s easy,” the teacher replied, “the Titanic.” So St. Peter let her into heaven.
Next he turned to the petty thief. “How many people died on that ship?” St. Peter asked. “Oooh, that’s tough, but I saw the movie, and it was 1, 500.” St. Peter stepped away and the thief walked into heaven.
Finally, St. Peter turned to the lawyer. He simply said to him: “Name them.”

Technology has for sure has grown by leaps and bounds. To quote famous author Arthur C. Clarke “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.â€
I came across this sort of technological advancement in relation to a programme on pets aired on Animal Planet. Anyone who owns a pet might be interested in reading this. These days people can go to any extreme in order to take care of their pets. People who own them know that they are almost a part of their family providing love and affection and seeking nothing in return. As I myself own a dog so I was very keen to watch this programme. It featured new tools and techniques employed to take care of your pets. The scene of action was Japan where a working individual had to find out ways to take care of his dog who had to stay at home alone the whole day. This is a common dilemma that working people have to deal with. It was incredibly interesting to see what happened when this guy went out to work.

Came across the blog of Malcolm Gladwell whose books ‘Tipping Point’ and ‘Blink’ are a huge success. Still not finished with ‘Blink’, but I find it pretty intriguing, more so because Gutfeel is the core concept, which has influenced the author to come up with a book on the same. Of whatever, I have read of Blink it talks about the snap decisions we take in our personal and professional lives. Interestingly, if we sit back and analyze (to bring in some logic here) most of these decisions are correct, which means that we don’t repent later.
