Vague thoughts…

Sheena Iyengar

Sheena Iyengar

Yesterday, read an article about Sheena Iyengar, who is blind by birth but has come up with a book. The interviewer was asking different types of  questions, but this lady stuck to her stance. An inpiring story I must say. Am looking forward to purchase the book “Art of Choosing”. I simply liked her answer when being asked why did she take up her husband’s name as surname. All she said was that it was a politically correct choice!

Branding as Marketing Strategy

brand

Wars were fought back in the days for land, just to prove dominance. Business nowadays is also like a war, and the goal is to reach as many people as possible, maximize the profit margin, improve the quality, and on the whole just prove to the rest of the dominance. Marketing plays a crucial role in this quest and branding is an important part of the marketing strategy.

A product or service is better recognized by a name, a symbol. This is the basic ideology behind the branding. There are certain psychological aspects that play a crucial role when a customer selects a particular product or service based on its branding. Marketing strategy capitalizes on this fact for better sales and ultimately better profits.

What is Twitter?

twitterRecently, someone asked me to write an article about ‘Twitter Fan buttons’ which that guy was promoting on his website. I had to refuse the task because even after much research I could not find a way to elaborate the topic. However, in the process, I realized how this twitter thing is picking up over the Internet and how some people are even labeling it the next best thing after blogging. So what is twitter exactly?

Twitter is a social networking utility which keeps you connected in real-time with colleagues, friends, and family. It is a free service as of now. You will just have to register, and you can send and receive updates to and from your network. These updates are in the form of text-based messages up to 140 characters known as ‘tweets’. The length of the messages is a unique selling proposition as far as the twitter owners are concerned. The logic is that most of the times people do not have much time to write a blog post about something they feel strongly about or just want to share with others. Sometimes, they may not have the required skills to blog. Therefore, these tweets are a convenient way to update others about yourself or receive updates from others.

Can you use blogging to earn money…

makemoneybloggingRead on another blog whether blogging is the right way to pour your heart out to public…The debate continues whether blogs are just a personal expression or a way to make money. Well, my opinion on this is that blogging is becoming a very popular way of earning money and i am saying it from my own experience. So it doesn’t matter whether you write about your personal experiences or something of public importance or about the current news floating around the world, the important thing is to update your blog with fresh content as much as possible. This might not give you the returns in the short term but definitely you will strike gold in long term.

How to spend money wisely during recession

recession2In the recession hit US economy, retailers are finding it difficult to sell their products. People have become quite money conscious and their spending habits are undergoing a tremendous change. They are now cutting their expenditures on nice-to-have items and only buying need-to-have goods.

A recent survey has found that whatever habits consumers acquire during the recession period stay with them for a life time. This might be the last straw for the already discouraged retailers. Though they are trying their best to woo customers but in vain.

These days, even Hollywood actresses like Keira Knightly, who has a penchant for collecting stylish footwear, are opting for renting them for a day! People are preferring to curb their expenses by cutting short their visit to local stores and instead opting for shopping for their needs online. Online marketers offer tremendous discounts and promo codes which are very popular in US and UK. It is believed that such discount coupons can save up to 95 percent of customer’s money. In fact, recently i read a story about a lady who saved total $1000 just by using promo codes smartly.
