Celebrity Blogging
Blogging is the in thing these days not only for the mortals like me but celebrities are also finding out time to make their mark in the cyberspace. I was reading a newspaper article which was commenting on the increased figures (read statistics) of the number of people who have started blogging in recent times. Everyone is on the Internet to pour their hearts out, from teenagers to elderly home makers, everyone seems to have turned net savvy. And suddenly blogging is considered to be ultra cool even your fashion statement! But how many people are reading these newly sprouted blogs? that was he question the article was pondering at…IMHO i will myself not read the ones which lack originality…Some of the ones i come across are just copy paste from some online news, however i am sure that there are people out there in the cyber world who appreciate original easy to read personal experiences or opinions.
The celebrity blogs seem to defy these figures to say the least. I googled big B’s blog the other day and was awed to find the amount of comments he receives, in a range of 500 to 1000…but he is big B! Even if he writes a sentence about his day hundreds of acknowledgments are posted. What i didn’t like was that he is using a blogging website rather than his own domain name. I found it uncool. On the contrary Aamir Khan’s blogs under his own domain name with a .com which makes it a bit classy. While Big B’s blog is about day to day ramblings and loads of apologies if he missed a day, Aamir believes in expressing himself in detail on the concerned topic. But what i liked was that these blogs make the celebrity so very accessible to you. It was nice to see that these celebrities respond to people posting comments also. And with pros there will always be cons. So they must be dealing with criticism as well. But isn’t that a part of life…
Today i read in the Bombay Times that TV artist and reality show contestant Manish Goel feels strongly for students who commit suicide and has floated a movement Future Lies in the Youth (FLY) and has started a blog for the same cause. Another celebrity blog, i thought…The article mentioned that the actor does not wants an NGO, but wants to build awareness for the cause. Though i tried googling it but could not find the blog but i feel that if every family with teens becomes more aware of the sensitivities of the children and help them by providing support the number of suicides will decrease for sure. I am mentioning this here because it is a good cause and if this post helps create awareness of the cause, that would be my contribution.
