FB or Facebook is a hugely popular social networking website with a layout and functionality that is quite user-friendly. To a normal user, it comes across as a platform for general friendly interactions and keeping in touch with distant relatives and friends. But as there are exceptions attached to almost everything, there is a group of people who are deadly against it and think of it as some evil on earth.

Quite cynically, these are the same people who maintain their account lying low and enjoy the interactions with their own state of mind. They would occasionally post pictures of their family and friends and throw in some things here and there just to make their presence felt. I wonder sometimes the kind and level of frustrations they are carrying within themselves. Would such breed ever delete their accounts and vanish from the scene where Angelina Jolie and Jonny Depp are somewhere being discussed in good humor. :) The answer is plain NO! (I find it quite interesting when people use the font size and font shape to emphasize importance, strength and so on. Actually, that’s the way it is, and I also comply to that many a times. Excuse the hormones please! )

Then there are the happy-go-lucky rise and shine type of variety who constantly update their statuses, are eager enough to comment on the page of an acquaintance too, and keep on adding pages to the like list. Not to forget the photo sorry profile pic, which is extremely important part of your account. It depicts the way you are. With ladies and girls, this aspect is of utmost significance, myself being one of them. TheĀ  pic has to be a sharp one and if the background is good or abroad, it adds value. The people who constantly keep on changing their pics have to be shallow ones and those who have a tendency to leave a pic for long are considered balanced individuals. Not to forget the apparently lazy sleeping Thomases who keep one eye open for all the latest happenings.

On a serious note, Facebook and other social networking sites have been known to alleviate depression in people who require help. The other day I just came across the the article by Malvika Sanghvi (not sure if the surname is correct), a celebrity, who was sad after the breakup with her beau. What she did was that she gathered a bit of courage and posted her story on her profile. She says – within minutes help/kind words started pouring in, with friends, well-wishers sending across the words they thought were correct. She felt so much relieved and was able to accept the fact rather peacefully.

The last thing that’s coming to my mind is the slang or sms language being widely used majorly between the age group of 15-25 yrs, who believe it is hep using the slang or are just more comfortable using it. But what happens when a person in early thirties like me has to read a message from my 20 or so year old niece? I have to put on my glasses and even after that I get some double meaning sentence or so I think. Progress, that is.

But you might ask – Why did I write all this…Just had some free time to spare, and going out to work not being on the top of my priority list right now. Why do i tell…no one wants to know. The answer to that would be that it is my blog and I will write what I feel like. Finally, I can only say that FB (or anything else) is as good or as bad as you imagine it out to be! A humble Namaste.
