How to take care of your dog
I own a dog for more than five years now. My dog Beetle, a dachshund, is just like my family member. I was thinking to write about some dog care tips since long so here is a blog dedicated to all those dog owners who simply adore their dogs.
Dogs are very sensitive to human behavior. If you own a dog you must have noticed this for sure. But the important thing is that if you want to keep your dog stress free, treat him kindly. Never be cruel to him. If you keep your dog stress free, he will act as a stress buster for you. I have lost count of the times when my dog’s unconditional love has helped me overcome my worries. This quality of the dog is really commendable so try to shower your love and affection on your pet in return.
A dog’s basic needs include a clean bowl of water, food, an encouraging pat on the back, a walk, and some exercise. If you are not providing any one of these, its time to readjust your schedule to include it. It would be great that you provide filtered water to your dogs as chemicals in tap water can be harmful to him. With regards to food, there are different opinions about the goodness of commercial dog food vis-a-vis home cooked foods. But whatever food you choose to give, take care that the food bowl is cleaned everyday and kept at the same place as far as possible. You can also provide chew sticks and bones to your dog to satisfy his natural urge to chew. Taking your dogs out for a walk is also essential to relieve his natural urges. Make sure that he doesn’t eat or drink anything from the street as it might be poisonous for him. Exercising your dog is another significant aspect of keeping your dog healthy. Usually, large dogs need more exercise than small dogs, but they need it anyway. Try Frisbee, throw ball and fetch exercises which will keep him engaged.
Yearly vaccination is another important thing which your should never forget as a dog owner. Try and maintain a vaccination card to help you monitor the time of year when the vaccination is required. De-worm your dog every six months and trim his nails regularly. Use a flea shampoo and powder for grooming. Try to give your dog a bath every week so that hygiene is maintained. Combing everyday is mandatory for long haired breeds otherwise their hairs entangle and look very odd. Even for short-haired dogs, try brushing their coats as often as possible maintain the shine of the coat.
Try to avoid smoking in front of your dog. It has been known to cause canine cancer so best avoided before them. Although, smoke causes lung cancer in humans but if you can’t stop smoking, at least stop smoking before your pet.
Last but not the least, train your dog as much as possible.
