Mumbai is no more the same, its the fourth year consecutively and its pouring beyond the expectations of the BMC and govt. no one knows how much it will rain. the preparations done are in vain coz it was intended for drizzles and not for a typical mumbai rain. the train traffic tells me how true it is that, no one is concerned for coming up with solutions, human life has no value here. its so crowded even if something happens thousands would lose their lifes. its so densely populated. Trains are supposed to carry 1800 ppl but there are 5000 in every train at peak hours who have no choice but to add to the crowd. is mumbai carrying some message to budding cities like bangalooru- the lessons they need to learn. its the spirit to live and never die attitude of this city that is pumping more people from outside into this maya nagari, thatz what they call it. i have saw a new trend in youngsters, they are migrating to b'lore where the everything is new and in nascent stage. the city has lot to offer and those with dreams are managing better than they could here in mumbai where everything is so competitive. Mumbai to me, for some reason seems appropriate name for a city in which I lived for less than 4 months but fell in with (bitter sweet) love. I can’t love the city the way I love Lucknow, because Mumbai doesn’t admit of mushy romance, her love is kind of tough love. It has no place for weak kneed. To even live in Mumbai, one has to exchange most of the dreams for some cynicism. Degrees may differ but everyone from a laborer to a modest clerk to filthy rich has to learn his lesson. Mumbai cuts no slack for those who are not up to it. Thats a much philosopical thought though..But I miss a lotta things like the way Cafe Mondega which is a Colaba Causeway fixture and is famous for its beer.Howevere I have different reasons for my affection for it..thats becoz it is so aesthetically crafted and the fact that admist so much crowd,it doesnt seem claustrophobic there! and then there is the Cafe Coffee Day at Carter Road,where I penned down most of my ads,sipping my cup of coffee and watching the waves dance!I miss traveling from Powai to Mahalaxmi for 2 hours(Here we reach another city in that time!)I miss the Vada Paos near Prabha Devi..I miss watching Mumbai's mills around the elephant lord on his annual yatra home admist the cries of "Ganpati Bappa Moriya" When it comes to finding ways to fill each minute with 60 seconds' worth of distance run,mumbai leaves the rest of the India behind.Nothing's truly unique,granted,and sure some cities do some of it better ,but you will not find the whole vibrant package anywhere else!! So if I get used to waiting patiently at a traffic signal for 150 seconds, then soon after I have to learn to positively spend my time in a traffic jam for an hour. Or there is some flyover coming up which leads to bumper to bumper traffic. I take the western express highway so going from Lower Parel to Andheri should take me 35-40 mins though that rarely happens. It takes me typically an hour.
