It is world cup season yet again and I am so angry that I have to let my emotions out. Firstly, I am really disappointed by Indian team’s performance. It was shameful to see them losing to an unassuming Bangladesh. Secondly, even their world record of 413 runs in the world cup does not brighten their chances to remain in the league. It is sheer luck now that they stay in the game. Their poor run rate in the first game is might serve as an impediment even though every player tried his level best to score as much runs as possible against Bermuda yesterday.

I do not want Sehwag to stay in the team. He is out of form, though he tried to retain his place in the team by scoring a century, I still feel that his poor performance in the previous games have spoiled his image to an extent that it would take time and effort from his side to regain people’s confidence and respect. It was Dravid who had immense faith in him to back him up to such an extent in such crucial times.

As far as other players go, Ganguly has yet again proved his mettle by scoring 89 at a time when it was tough to stay on the wicket. He has proved that he is quite serious about his comeback.

Yuvraj Singh’s sixes and fours left me spellbound yesterday. It was indeed a pleasure watching him thrash every ball to the boundary, though it was a pity that there were not many Indians in the stadium to clap and support the team.

Tendulkar also made a reasonable score and contributed his bit to the team. Tendulkar may be a world class player but off late his increasing endorsements of various products is really unbecoming of him. Every ad from Sunfeat to Visa is featuring Tendulkar and the amount of money he might be earning is anybody’s guess.

Apart from all these feelings, I do hope that India somehow reaches the finals and wins the cup.

At last, I would like to pay my respects to Pakistan’s coach Bob Woolmer. Though I was happy that Pakistanis out but this tragic news came as a rude shock. Some are saying that it was a heart attack due to immense stress after Pakistan was out of the World Cup but there is also a hush hush thing about him committing suicide. May his soul rest in peace.

I understand the frustration of Indian Cricket fans. We better get another sport to get attached to. Now the result is sealed with pretty much the exact same things mentioned above in the last match too.

Yes, that’s a good idea Apurva. Cricket fans should switch to some other sport..but the issue is that there is no other sport in which India performs well..if you can think of something let me know…be it hockey, football, tennis, swimming, where does India stand? We can feel happy with once in a blue moon shooting trophy(remember Mr Rathore) but otherwise the resources and training available for others sports is quite dismal.

Coming back to cricket, i was very happy to see the Australia vs. West Indies match, just because of the fact that it was entertaining, that is the reason why we watch sports for!

As far as advertising for different products goes, i really cant see Yuvi, Dravid, and Saurav’s ads when they have been kicked out of the world cup…If someone says that even Amitabh and Shahrukh are earning big bucks from ads so why not our cricketers..then i would say that Amitabh and Shahrukh are entertaining us also through their movies. They are not disappointing us.
