Relationships – what works, what not…

imagesI was inspired to write on this topic by a facebook friend who had asked a simple question – ‘How relationships work?’. Though this question is quite simple the answer is extremely convoluted and difficult to understand. Though I am not a pro on this topic, I would like to add that almost ten years of married life has taught me enough to write a paragraph about relationships in general.

It is a very old concept that relationships work if you care for each other! I hate the word ‘care’ so much so that might not want to hear it all my life. However, I do respect the connotations it carries in different contexts. For example, a mother will naturally care for her child without being told by anyone. A father is supposed to care or look after the financial needs of the family irrespective of the fact whether his wife is working or not.

Is moral policing okay on Valentine day?

Tomorrow is Valentine day. Much hoopla is generated every year by the moral police against the celebration of this day. This year too, different political groups have warned people to stay away from celebrating it if they don’t want to bear the consequences.

For instance, the VHP is all set to roam around with Rakhis and will force couples to tie them to each other if they found them celebrating the valentine day. Well, what else can be said about this apart from the fact that this idea is highly absurd. I mean what if the couple caught coo-chi-cooing under a tree in a park is married!!! I mean married people have the right to express their love for each other outside the confines of their home. And this is the ideal calender event to do so, to express love and gifts for renewed bonding. But the moral police would hardly let this day go by peacefully without vandalizing places and things.
